Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is probably one of the most popular subjects in performing arts. It is the art of expressing yourself through song, dance and acting. So if you’re an actor, dancer or singer you can perform Musical Theatre as it combines all three disciplines. In most musicals, singing, dance and acting are the main ingredients and we will help train students to get the best from their natural ability.

Drama

As most senior schools have their own Drama department, Y.E.M. has the ability to help develop students skills further and assist with their G.C.S.E. examinations if they wish. This includes plays, whether it be at school or on stage. Past exam results have proven to be a great confidence boost for students and have helped build their achievement potential for later in life.

Dance

At Y.E.M. we offer classes in Ballet (Cecchetti method), Modern Jazz, Tap and Contemporary Dance. Workshops offer other disciplines so that students have the opportunity of trying something new, for example National, Character, Irish etc.

Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance and being able to dance is vital to a performing career for any singer or actor. Students are able to choose which disciplines they wish to study and exams are available in Ballet, Modern Jazz and Tap. Students are put forward for dance auditions and for scholarships to full time Performing Arts Schools.

Singing

Individual private singing lessons are available by appointment.

Weekly lessons are also available, but have to be pre-arranged. Examinations to Grade 8, and A.L.C.M./L.L.C.M. Diploma in Musical Theatre Singing with L.C.M.M. London.

Keyboard

Individual private keyboard lessons are available, but there may be a waiting list. Examinations to Grade 8, with L.C.M.M. London are available.
